SELECTED PROJECT

SEGHESIO WINERY

Saving $$ by Design

CHALLENGE Develop an overall plan to identify the most cost effective solution so the Seghesio Winery could meet its production goals for the next decade.

SOLUTION
The plan developed recommended restoring the Old Winery Building into a barrel cellar, with tasting room and offices. The existing building resembled a large old agricultural storage type building. The Fifth Resource Group designed a more modern looking winery building typical of many of such uses in Sonoma County and kept the roof form of the original building.

RESULTS A cost effective solution that will provide Seghesio Winery with the facilities it needs to meet its production goals for the next decade while also reducing it’s operating expenses by bringing the barrel storage onsite instead of continuing the expense of a leased barrel facility plus transportation costs. Sustainable “Green” Design elements used include: Bringing barrel storage onsite to reduce environmental impacts from trucking, super insulated shell, night air cooling, photovoltaic solar to generate power onsite.
