FRANCISCAN
OAKVILLE ESTATES - RUTHERFORD
Master Plan /
Barrel Warehouse Addition
Franciscan Vineyards approached The Fifth Resource, Inc. in July 1995 to assist in establishing their priorities for facility infrastructure expansion and to bring the Rutherford Winery Master Plan current.
We developed a Five Year Facility and Capital Plan which included Mount Veeder Winery, Quintessa Vineyard, Estancia Estates in Alexander Valley and Monterey
Using Industrial Engineering techniques, we established the capacities needed at each step to balance the winemaking production processes. This allowed us to reprioritize Franciscan's needs, to effectively focus its resources: Fifty percent (50%) savings.
The Fifth Resource, Inc., stepped into a preexisting project who's team needed new direction. Bringing a new focus and decision making process to the team, The Fifth Resource, Inc., worked closely with the agencies of Napa County to insure that Franciscan maximized the opportunities of their Site Master Plan with the addition of the Barrel Warehouse and Preparation Pad.
The new 42,000 square foot Barrel Warehouse was designed by The Fifth Resource, Inc. to provide a highly conditioned space which maximizes wine quality, minimized "topping loss", allowed for capacity expansion, while reducing operating cost to Franciscan. The implementation of this master plan also included the relocation of production truck access, new scales, on site fire protection system, engineering storm water diversion, new process waste management systems, and loading dock relocation; while not disrupting Franciscan's daily operations.
