Corporate Headquarters Facility

Motorola's New Enterprises Group established Motorola Lighting Inc. (MLI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Motorola Inc., February 1989.

This 100,000 square foot Facility is MLI's corporate headquarters, development and production center for ELECTRONIC BALLASTS.

The Motorola Project Manager had responsibility for establishing this facility within six months; starting with the development of a business plan, through site search (of an existing shell building), lease negotiation and tenant improvement construction ($2 million) for an August 1989 occupancy. The factory fitout which followed features a state-of-the-art automated six-sigma line and a unique computer-controlled lamp/ballast system life test facility.

Options were taken within the Deerfield Business Park, Ill of adjoining land to support MLI's strategic business growth plan with expanding manufacturing facilities.
